Issue 31 • March 2025
In this edition, Jeremy Weltman examines the growth of Poland’s leasing industry, which continues to expand rapidly, driven by strong demand for asset financing, an increase in green investments, and innovative service models. With leasing penetration rates among the highest in Europe, the sector is vital in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the broader economy.
This edition also delves into the government’s discussions with Eurofima, which could have significant implications for rolling stock leasing companies (or ROSCOs). Fitch Ratings warns that access to Eurofima’s lower-cost funding could pressure ROSCOs’ operating margins and dividends, particularly if new procurements are directed through the planned state-owned Great British Railways (GBR).
Additionally, in our cover story, Katherine Muir explores the political, historical, and business leasing aspects surrounding Bibby Marine's barge in Dorset, which came to an abrupt end earlier this year.
