Early in April, IDS agreed to acquire White Clarke Group in a move that observers I spoke to described as bold, yet which make complete sense from a business perspective. And while such observers may be unable to pass informed judgement on the value-for-money of such a deal – this being a private agreement between two PE companies – the synergies, most agree, look rock solid.

For this edition, I interviewed David Hamilton, the IDS chief executive, and asked him about how the WCG deal fits in with his plans for the business.

Another feature explores the monetising potential of subscription models. An article by Bernd Oppold, a partner at business consultancy KPMG, considers the planning and spending needed before revenue streams can be realised by players in the asset finance space.

Andy Blundell, of Close Brothers Aviation & Marine, writes that the financing of luxury transport – yachts, private jets and helicopters – is on the rise, with business volumes currently exceeding pre-pandemic levels.

Meanwhile, the struggle to cool the planet continues and the role that project finance will need to play to bring to life the COP26 goals will be crucial. Leasing Life spoke with Capitas Finance CEO Darren Riva about his plans to bring green finance to fruition.

Our country focus looks at Portugal and its strong performance coming out of winter. Plus, much more.
